• Many budgets and resources in schools, charities and town services have been cut and are often very tight. Wanting to help, we are starting a 12 month mission to LOVE NEWTOWN.

Every month during 2018 a life group from the Church will volunteer a Saturday to support the community giving their time to help in a variety of ways. Each months task and services are listed in more details below:-

Meadow View One Life Group spent Saturday the 27th of January building a shed and clearing all areas of the school for the children of Ysgol Cedewain. All of the gardens had become overgrown over the winter and were in need of much love and attention along with a wendy house roof needing re-felting.

Saturday February the 3rd saw Stepaside Life Group take on the challenge of painting two classrooms for Hafren Primary School. Both classrooms were in great need of a refresh of colour throughout and the team managed to complete both classrooms within the day.

Ponthafren Mental Health Centre were blessed by Middle Dolfor Road Life Group on Saturday 17th of April when 20 volunteers of a wide age range painted 2 offices plus the stairwell to the cellar. Along with potting 300 whips, cleaning 20 chairs and replacing faulty decking and much more.

The sun shone on Saturday 21st of March when Dolfor 2 Life Group helped Maesyrhandir Primary School rejuvenate their nature garden and also tidy an outside staging area. The transformation was amazing and has given the children back a much loved play area and nature spot.

Our Youth took the lead on Saturday 5th of May under Youth Pastor Emma Lewis's guidance. The team spent the morning cleaning the Nantoer underpass and along the path which leads to the underpass involving hedge cutting and litter picking. After a refreshing lunch they painted a nearby underpass in the Maesyrhandir estate which had graffiti damage.

Also younger children helped by litter picking around the school grounds.

Meadow View two Life group spent a sunny Saturday the 7th of July at Ladywell Green School transforming two old storage rooms into meeting rooms/ breakout rooms for the pupils. With a sunny day and an eager team they also tidied over grown playgrounds and seating areas.

Llanllwchaiarn life group spent Saturday 18th of August at Bethshan Nursing home. They helped in many areas of need including rebuilding fencing and constructing, painting flower beds and potting new flowers for the residents to enjoy in the garden area.

For our September Love Newtown project we were joined by a team of volunteers from  Riverside Church, Peoria Illnois USA. The project for the day was a larger task of renovating a sensor garden which had been unused for many years due to over growth for Cerrig Camu, day centre.

St Marys School was visited on the 6th of October by Dolfor two life group where we painted railings throughout the school garden and front and also helped with garden and completed lots of painting inside the school.

Our 11th Love Newtown project saw a return to Bethshan Nursing home for our Pavilion Court group to share time with the residents; getting involved with activities and also painting murals for the walls of the Henry Smith room which is used for physio for the residents.

Our final project for the year took place on Wednesday 5th of December when our day time life group shared a Christmas service which included carol singing, bible readings and much more in three different elderly service establishments in Newtown. The one hour service was shared in Bethshan Nursing Home, Park Day Centre and Plas Cae Crwn and all were very well received.
